Due to the geographic spread of where Arain live, the Hindu Arain speak at least six different languages and read and write in three others. Their community's primary language is Hindi, which allows them to communicate with most of the north Indians and many of their Urdu speaking neighbors. Hindi and Urdu are mutually intelligible.
They have solid status in Hindu society. Arains are well-respected.
Most of the educated Arain community is involved in work fields involving business, law, politics and government. Sugarcane farming is the main income cash flow for Arain farmers.
Their community marries within their caste, which is typical of those with high status. In terms of inheritance, sons are favored more than daughters with more left for them. Village councils of the Arain promote their interests and settle disagreements.
The Arain people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all term for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins.
Almost all Hindus participate in yearly celebrations like Holi, the festival of colors and the start of spring / Diwali, the festival of lights / Navratri, the celebration of autumn / and Rama Navami, Rama's birthday.
As far as we know there are no Christ followers in this community. This makes it harder to create community engagement to help them seek Jesus and find the truth. Ideally, an entire family or clan will accept Christ together.
Pray that the Holy Spirit would soften and open the hearts of the Arain Hindu and prepare them to hear the gospel and accept it.
Pray for the Lord to raise up a generation of Arain Christ followers who will disciple others.
Pray that Indian Christians would gain resources to reach out to their Arain neighbors.
Ask God to give wisdom to people to pray faithfully for the Arain of India.
