Introduction / History
The Amahuaca are a tribe who live in the southeast Amazon mostly in Peru while some live in Brazil. They have several names and one of them is Ipitineri.
In the 1700s missionaries were met with resistance by the Amahuaca. By tradition the Amahuaca lived in the Urubamba Valley in Peru. When rubber tappers raided them in the past, this caused them to move to other regions.
Today the existence of the Amahuaca is threatened by disease and illegal logging. Most of them live in Puerto Varadera on the border of Peru and Brazil. They speak Panoan and their language is written in the Latin script. They have parts of the Bible available in their language. The Amahuaca hunt, fish and work in industry. They produce Brazil nuts.

Pray that the Amahuaca get the whole Bible in their language and that it leads them to Jesus Christ.
