The northeast border of Iraq is part of a larger Kurdish population of clans, tribes, and confederacies which have existed for thousands of years. They share several important and common ties of language, culture, homeland, and identity. They fought ISIS valiantly, and at great cost. They are farmers, raising cattle and goats, and a people who enjoy elaborate costumes, and bright colors.
Almost all Kurds are Sunni; class prejudice is common in this people group. Many of the most rebellious in Kurdish society have associated with secret and unorthodox Muslim sects.
Many Kurds have endured much suffering in recent years of war and rebellion, scarcity of water, and resultant farming problems. Medical teams and civil engineers, and educators are needed to minister to these needy people.
There are a few known followers of Christ among the Kurds in Iraq. Please pray they will grow in the admonition and nurture of the Lord.
* Pray for the Lord to bless the families among the Kurds of Iraq with His presence and mercy.
* Pray for a movement of Bible studies that will beget more Bible studies with the intension of producing Kurdish disciples.
