Introduction / History

Narom speaking people have survived raids by some neighbors and wars with others. Yet they have managed to earn their living through trading with other tribes, even when Chinese traders could have taken over their trade routes. The Narom people managed to survive by cementing alliances through marriages.

Narom is a language more than a people group. There are two dialects of this language.

Where Are they Located?

Narom speakers live in Sarawak, a state of Malaysia on the island of Borneo.

The Narom speaking people are noted for their love of music.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The primary religion practiced by the Narom people is Islam, a monotheistic religion built around the teachings of the Koran and of the prophet Mohammad.
