The Angoms are also called Ngom, which is the name of their language. Like many in Gabon, they use French as a trade language. They live in Gabon and neighboring Republic of the Congo.
Music and dance are essential to the Ngoms. Like the other tribes of West Africa, having their own dance forms and language give them an identity. Music and dance are also excellent ways to present the gospel since this is the language of the heart to so many.
Most Ngoms are non-evangelical Christians. They are concerned about social justice issues. Spirituality involves the entire community; therefore individual salvation is less important to them.
Ngom family structure involves extended families and kinship networks. These are essential for emotional support and meeting physical needs.
The Ngoms need to understand that they must personally respond to God’s invitation to become part of his holy family. They need the work of the Holy Spirit in their families and individual lives.
Pray for a powerful work of the Holy Spirit in Ngom families, leading them to give Christ their undivided devotion.
Pray for family leaders to understand that they must center their lives around Jesus and his ways.
Pray that soon Ngom disciples will disciple those who lack a relationship with the only savior, Jesus Christ.
