Introduction / History

Somalis in South Africa are the descendants of those who originated from the country of Somalia.

After the civil war in Somalia later last century, many Somalis came to live in South Africa. Many of them are self-employed and have shops and stores. These have proved a success but some have been attacked and looted.

Somalis generally keep to their own communities. They have an Association to represent them. With the situation in Somalia becoming better than it was, some Somalis are returning to Somalia.

The Somalis are Muslims. They live in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria. They speak Somali and can speak English too.

Prayer Points

Pray that God will give the Somalis dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ.
Pray that South African Christians will lead them to salvation.
Pray that when reading about Jesus in the Koran, the Somalis will want to find more, read the Bible and give their lives to Jesus Christ.
Pray for protection for the Somalis in South Africa.
