The Lembaas are also called Remba and Mwenye. They have mixed Bantu and Yemeni ancestry. Most live in South Africa, though there is also a sizable population in Zimbabwe.
During South Africa’s apartheid years, they were rejected.
The Lembaas do not marry outside their community, partly because they still face rejection, both by Black and White South Africans. Their neighbors find the Lembaa’s religious beliefs to be strange.
They hold to religious beliefs that combine elements of Christianity and Judaism. Regardless of their world religion, the Lembaas also practice traditional religion. Judaism has affected their religious beliefs; some of their dietary restrictions originat
Lembaas need to open their hearts to fully embracing Jesus Christ and allowing no substitute.
