Introduction / History

The Rajapuri are Hindus. In Maharashtra they speak Konkani. They read and write in Kannada and Malayalam. They eat rice and fish too.

The Rajapuri in Karnataka work in cultivation. Some work in trade, business and labouring. They have birth and marriage rituals and there are cousin marriages. The dead are cremated. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son in charge of the home.

The Rajapuri in Kerala speak Konkani and Malayalam too. They are similar socially to those in Karnataka.
