Introduction / History

In the 1980s, some Japanese Brazilians chose to return to work and live in Japan as foreign migrant workers. However, because their ancestors almost forgot their Japanese customs, they found it a bit difficult to re-adapt to Japanese culture after returning to Japan.

They are found in Brazil and in Japan's major cities.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Like their Japanese ancestors, they were originally Shinto. Iin Brazil, due to the influence of the Brazilian church, many people changed to Catholicism and took Catholic beliefs back to Japan.
