Introduction / History

The Phula speak a Tibeto Burmese language. They live in Vietnam and China.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Phula hunt, weave cloth and do basket work. They eat rice with their main meals, usually twice a day.
Some of them live in stilt houses and some in houses on the ground. Neighbors help each other when it is time for the harvest.
The Phula are allowed to have pre-marital relations. They have engagement and wedding ceremonies and marriage customs. Women give birth while seated and sleep on a straw mat. The Phula have name giving ceremonies and rituals for funerals. They like folk literature and dancing. Their favorite instruments include the trumpet and drums.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Phula pray to male ancestors for good health and to female ancestors for abundant crop yields. People who specialize in rituals play an important part in the Phula community.

What Are Their Needs?

The Phula people need to submit to Jesus Christ so they can experience the abundant life he offers in John 10:10.

Prayer Points

Pray for the spiritual blindness and bondage to the evil one to be removed so they can understand and respond to Christ.
Pray for the Lord to provide for their physical and spiritual needs as a testimony of his power and love.
Pray that the Phula people will have a spiritual hunger that will open their hearts to the King of kings.
Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among them.
