Introduction / History

Sardinia is a large island in the Mediterranean Sea owned by Italy. The Sardinian people identify more with being Sardinian than Italian.
They are divided into three subgroups. The Sard speak Italian as their first language and the Tempiesein speak Gallurese Sardinian as their heart language. The Sassarese speak Sassarese Sardinian.

What Are Their Lives Like?

A large part of Sardinia’s economy is in finance and real estate. An equally large segment is the tourist industry.
Their agricultural sector largely involves forestry and sheep herding. The island has a low population density by Italian standards, partly because so much land is taken up with agricultural pursuits. There is a large NATO military presence in Sardinia, and many of the local people resent it.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Tempiesein Sardinians are devout Roman Catholics. A high percentage of them attend mass. Their identity is in the Roman Catholic Church, and they believe it’s teachings. Some are secular, but this is a smaller percentage than what you are likely to find in other parts of Western Europe.

What Are Their Needs?

Tempiesein Sardinians need to put their hope in Jesus Christ rather than a religious institution.

Prayer Points

Pray for Tempiesein Sardinian followers of Christ to disciple others in the way of the Lord of lords.
Pray for a Holy Spirit-led revival in the Roman Catholic Church in Sardinia and the rest of Italy.
Pray for the Sardinians to have a thirst for spiritual hunger and a hunger for truth.
