Introduction / History

The Kolibugan is one of the Subanon groups. They live in the southern part of the province of Zamboanga del Sur in the southern Philippines.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Kolibugan Subanon are known for their artistic expressions: weaving, tapestries, music, and dance.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Though they are officially Sunni Muslim, they are well-known for their pre-Islamic animistic practices. Though they are expected to put their faith in Allah and the prophesies of Mohammed, most look to the spirit world for their practical needs. Islam is, however, a key part of their identity as an ethnic group.

What Are Their Needs?

The Kolibugan Subanon people need to put their hope in the King of kings, realizing that he is the one who gives them worth and dignity.

Prayer Points

Pray for loving workers to go to the Kolibugan Subanon people until there are disciples who make more disciples.
Pray the Lord will prepare the hearts of the Kolibugan Subanon to understand and to believe the gospel.
Pray for the Lord to bless the Kolibugan Subanon people with adequate education and medical facilities.
Pray for the Lord to bless the Kolibugan Subanon people so abundantly that they will see he is the only one worthy of praise and worship.
