Introduction

The Rajput, members of the Kshatriya varna (warrior class), played a major role in Indian history. Known proudly as defenders and rulers during the 7th century, they formed dynasties and kingdoms that had resisted invasions, including from Muslim forces. As time passed, some Rajput converted to Islam, while others integrated with the British military. Though once land owners and nobles, modern Rajput have faced diminished influence after the abolition of their titles and privileges in the 1970s. Many Hindu Dikhit Rajput are living in Rajasthan, though some are spread throughout India.

Ministry Obstacles

Rajput are currently experiencing an identity crisis due to their loss of traditional privileges and the shift away from land and military-based livelihoods. Due to caste reservations, the government is offering educational privileges to other communities. Moreover, in a cultural sense, their devotion and veneration of Hindu gods and their reliance on gurus for spiritual guidance make them less receptive to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Outreach Ideas

Pray for the Followers of Christ

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray for the Dikhit Rajput community to recognize their need for Jesus and help them surrender to the only savior.
Pray for spiritual hunger among the Rajput that leads them to seek fulfillment in Christ.
Pray they will embrace the joy of becoming part of God's eternal royal family.
Pray for a movement to Christ with church planters to transform Rajput communities across India.
