The Mhalo Nhavi Nai are a subgroup of the prominent Marathi people. They live in Maharashtra, the state named for the Marathi peoples. They speak either Goan Konkani or Marathi.

Though they have been barbers and hairdressers, this community is best known for their military skills. Many have been in India’s armed forces. They have made significant contributions to India’s culture.
