Tocho in Sudan

The Tochos have extended families, and the elders arrange marriages. A Tocho man might have multiple wives, but only if he is wealthy. Children with the same parents grow up together, being raised by their mother in their younger years. Respected elders resolve family disputes. They have their own language (Tocho), but most also speak Sudanese Arabic, the local trade language. Tochos consume dairy products from their cattle and legumes such as fava beans. They also forage for wild roots, fruits, and berries. Aradeab is one of their favorite beverages. It comes from the baobab fruit. When the Tocho have social gatherings, they drink spiced tea and coffee.

Ministry Obstacles
The vast majority of Tochos are Muslim, and they live in a part of the world where there is violent strife between Christians and Muslims, so any Tocho person who would consider following Christ would likely be considered a traitor to his tribe.
