Introduction / History

The Baangi people live in northern Niger State, in Nigeria. They are centered around Bangi town which is south of Bena. Some speak the Baangi language, and others speak Hausa in order to identify with Hausa culture. Some know them as the Kambari people.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Baangi homeland is inaccessible during the rainy season, and living conditions are difficult.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They practice a mixture of Animism and Islam, with Islam more evident in the towns.

What Are Their Needs?

The Baangi people have a desperate need to meet the only one who can lead them into abundant life. As it stands, they put their faith in the spirit world.

Prayer Points

Pray for peace in northern Nigeria.
Pray that Nigerian Christians of other tribes will be given a heart to reach the Baangi tribe with the good news of Christ. Pray especially that the Dakakari Lela people will be given a desire to do this, as they are neighbors.
Pray the Baangi tribe will be given a growing desire to know Christ and will not be satisfied with anything less.
