Kurds are the largest ethnic group in the world without a state of their own. Kurdish society consists mainly of tribes that arose from a nomadic and semi-nomadic way of life in previous centuries. It is strongly fragmented and is often split by internal disagreements. So far in history, the Kurds have never managed to unite in their common cause. Tribalism is a factor among Kurds, promoting many different factions which weaken the possibility of an independent homeland. Their primary loyalty is to the immediate family, and then to the tribe. This is true for Kurds in Iran as well as the neighboring countries. Sorani is one of their two major languages.
Central Kurds are usually Sunni Muslim, though they are unorthodox. That might be because of their historical allegiance to the Zoroastrian religion. They are less committed to any religion than most Muslims.
Pray that Kurdish leaders in Iran would be willing to investigate the claims of Jesus Christ.
Pray that God would create a hunger for the Bible and spiritual truth in the heart of the Kurdish living in Iran.
Pray for Sorani Kurds to experience the surpassing glory, power and love of Jesus Christ so they can become committed to him.
