The Fiotis speak Vili. At one time Fioti was a derisive term given them by Portuguese traders. They traded captured slaves, ivory, and copper for European made manufactured goods such as firearms and textiles. They also suffered from European diseases.
They live in Gabon and Republic of Congo. They are among the many Bantu and Kongo peoples of Africa. Their history traces back to the Kingdom of Loango.
Fiotis have a matrilineal society like many of West Africa.
Though they are primarily Christian today, the Fiotis also have their own traditional religions which involve Nkisi and other artifacts. They believe spirits inhabit these statues.
Fiotis need better medical facilities.
Pray for a spiritual revival in Fioti families and churches that will bless them in every way.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to draw Fioti elders and clergymen closer to the King of kings.
Pray for the Lord to give them an abundant harvest that will show them his power and glory.
