The Maghaiya Kumbar live in Odisha, Bihar and West Bengal. They speak, read and write in Oriya and Bengali.
The Maghaiya Kumbar work in agriculture and in selling pottery. Most of them are landless. They are not well educated so the gospel will need to be presented in oral forms. They have a traditional council to look after their needs. Widowers and the divorced can marry again. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming the new family head.
They are Hindus who also follow a local religion.
The Maghaiya Kumbars needs to experience the abundant life that only Jesus Christ can offer their community.
* Scripture Prayers for the Maghaiya in India.
Pray that the traditional councils will come to Jesus Christ and lead their community into a disciple making movement. Pray that gospel recordings and the JESUS Film will help them to start Discovery Bible Studies. Pray for intercessors and missionaries to go to them.
