Mokerang is spoken on North Los Negros and Ndrilo islands located off the east end of Manus Island and east of Lorengau, the capital. The language is used by all age groups but is slowly losing users. Revitalization efforts could restore its strength if the community desires it.

The people living on the remote islands of Manus Province have limited income, with the main cash crops being coconut and betel nut. A major source of income are family members who have jobs in urban areas and who send money back to the village.

Although 90 per cent of Mokerang -speaking people are Christians, they can only access God's word in a second or third language.

The most common mode of transportation is by motorboat or canoe as the island road system is not well-developed. This limits peoples' access to education and government services, though Manus Province as a whole has achieved a high literacy rate of 85.8%. Sadly, there is no scripture available to read or listen to.

Pray that believers will desire to have God's word in their first language.
Pray that God will raise up workers to take his word to those still waiting.
