Introduction / History

Arora is a business and mercantile community from South Asia. Most are Hindus, but there are many Sikhs and Muslims among them.
There have been many times in history when the Arora people have been violently persecuted. Their people were slaughtered during both the Arab and the Moghul invasions of the Subcontinent.

What Are Their Lives Like?

These are a resilient people, and they managed to become an influential community. Today, many of them are prominent in the areas of business, education, medicine, finance, technology, engineering, manufacturing, entertainment and the armed forces. They probably rise to the top because of their rigorous work ethic. It could also be because of their insistence on making sure that their children get a higher education. Parents attach a lot of importance to education for their wards and instill in them a desire to live a life of dignity and honor.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Aroras are divided into three religions (Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism), yet they are open to visiting the sacred places of other religious communities. They are noted for their religious tolerance, yet very few have embraced Christ as the only way to salvation. In Afghanistan there is a small Hindu community among them.

What Are Their Needs?

Aroras need God’s protection, especially those who live in Afghanistan. That country persecutes non-Muslims.
